A practice companion for Indian classical music
beSur is an AI-powered harmonium accompaniment app designed for practicing Hindustani classical vocal music. Built for Marva AI LLP, it helps beginner to intermediate learners develop consistent practice habits through structured exercises, visual swar guidance, and intelligent accompaniment.
We designed and engineered the cross-platform mobile app from the ground up, shipping on both iOS and Android. The app serves as a “practice companion” rather than a replacement for in-person instruction from a guru, bridging the gap between lessons with structured, guided practice.

Client
We built beSur to bridge the gap between guru and student, making the ancient art of Hindustani classical music accessible to anyone with a phone and the desire to learn.
Built with Flutter
One codebase. Two platforms. A custom audio engine built from scratch. Zero compromise on the precision that Indian classical music demands.
One codebase, two platforms
Flutter let us ship pixel-perfect, 60fps experiences on both iOS and Android from a single Dart codebase - halving development time without compromising on native feel.
A custom-built audio engine
Off-the-shelf audio libraries couldn't deliver the precision Indian classical music demands. So we engineered our own - built from scratch for sub-millisecond latency, real-time harmonium synthesis, and seamless tanpura drone playback.
Music meets interaction design
Every swar lights up, every note animates, every raga unfolds visually. We turned centuries-old notation into an interactive, touch-first experience that makes practice feel like play.
Key features
Every feature designed around how students actually practice, not how we think they should.
AI Harmonium Accompaniment
Intelligent harmonium that follows the learner, generating real-time accompaniment tailored to their practice session.
Visual Swar Guidance
Notes light up on screen as they play, giving learners an intuitive visual map of ragas, alankars, and bandish.
Guided Vocal Demos
Pre-recorded demonstration tracks let students hear how a phrase should sound before they attempt it themselves.
Loop & Repeat Controls
Isolate difficult passages and loop them at variable speeds to build muscle memory and pitch accuracy.
Tanpura Drone & Sa Reference
Built-in tanpura provides a constant tonal reference, helping students develop a stable sense of pitch.
Structured Practice Curriculum
From basic swars to complex ragas, a progressive curriculum guides learners through Hindustani classical fundamentals.
